Abstract(in English) In 3D cell structure where small cells are three-dimensionally deployed on macro cells including skyscrapers, it is important to mitigate inter-cell interference among small cells. In this paper, we propose a method to avoid the inter-cell interference, in which we apply horizontal-plane beam control on small-cell base stations and control the beam directivity by network coordination. In the proposal, the small-cell base stations measure interference from surrounding base stations in advance and then request the most interfering base station to change the beam directivity when the received quality of its serving user equipment degrades. We describe the overview of the proposed method and clarify its basic performance by using a simple model.
