| Abstract(in English) | Recently, International standardization has been one of hot topics in officials and non-officials. Generally, International standards consist of three categories, such as "de jure standard" promoted as a strategic plan of a nation, "Forum standard" promoted by a community including many companies, and "de facto standard" promoted by individual companies strategically. For a social infrastructure implemented by ICT, compliance with de jure standard is mostly required for deployment of products and systems. Therefore, strategy of International standardization will give major impact to business strategy. This report surveys discussion about International standardization, and introduces activities of ITU (International Telecommunication Union) and related standard organizations. Then, it describes necessity and importance of International standardization. Moreover, it also mentions trends and future view of standardization in optical access and related systems in which author has participated, as one of examples |
