Abstract(in English) We studied about synthesis and cathodoluminescent properties of UV emitting (Zn_<1-x>Mg_x)Al_2O_4. From the Photoluminescence Excitation (PLE) spectra, the absorption edge of (Zn_<1-x>Mg_x)Al_2O_4 were shifted to higher energy according to increase of Mg ratio. It is thought that the forbidden gap of (Zn_<1-x>Mg_x)Al_2O_4 became bigger by doping Mg. Furthermore, from the cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra, (Zn_<1-x>Mg_x)Al_2O_4 (X = 0.4) showed UV emission peaked at not only 230 nm but also 280 nm by increasing firing temperature. The UV emission peaked at 280 nm became weaker according to increase of acceralate voltage. It is thought that another energy level was formed near surface area of the powder by increasing firing temperature.
