Abstract(in English) | Wide Area Multilateration (WAM) is an aeronautical surveillance system using TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) technique. This means that an aircraft transmits signals for SSR (Secondary Surveillance Radar), the transmitted signals are detected by a number of ground based receiver stations, and the aircraft position is estimated by the detection time differences of signals at each receiver station. The WAM has a challenge like an increase of positioning error outside of a receiver constellation in principle. And one of the solutions is to utilize a measured distance from a receiver station to aircraft for the positioning calculation. This paper indicates evaluation results using an experiment system for an improvement of positioning error by utilizing this measured distance. |
