Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A practical method for making use of the small world phenomenon to increase Network-on-Chips (NoCs) is proposed. Recently, the fact that the communication latency can be reduced by adding some random links to a uniform network topology has gotten well-known. However, the practical methods and mechanisms for making random links in fixed wired NoCs has not been proposed. Here the FPGA like switch mechanism which makes random configurable links in NoCs is proposed. Evaluation results show that 4 configurable switches can be introduced to 4×4 Mesh topology NoC with the 25.6% area overhead, 22.8% power overhead, and 2.0% energy overhead for transmitting a bit.
