Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper reports how we mined the word frequency information from Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese (BCCWJ) developed by National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL) and utilized it as a basic data for university-level essay writing instructions. Many how-to books on writing provide examples of words and phrases to be used, but most of such examples lack grounds for why they are appropriate. We retrieved the frequency information of verbs and nouns from BCCWJ Corpora Data's High school text section. By using such information, we believe we can provide better-grounded instructions for writing techniques and skills that are not limited to any specific authors or academic disciplines.
