Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Terahertz emission from BSCCO single crystal mesa structure has recently attracted considerable attention. Since the power fed into the mesa is on the order of 10^6 W/cm^3, the self-heating effects appear significantly in I-V characteristics. We have measured the I-V characteristics of BSCCO sub-THz oscillator for three cooling conditions. When the mesa is cooled directly into liquid helium, the maximum applied voltage is increased up to three times compared with that cooled by using helium flow cryostat. Moreover, radiation characteristics in BSCCO sub-THz oscillator into liquid helium have been investigated using BSCCO mesa detector. The radiation which is identified at TM (2, 0) mode, i.e. the second harmonics of cavity resonance mode along width, is successfully observed.
