A Study on Power Supply Scheme using Two-side Mesh Sheet Medium

Abstract(in English) The sheet medium communication system is a novel physical form of communication that utilizes the surface as a communication medium to provide both data and power transmission services to the sensor node placed atop it. In conventional work, the sheet medium communication system uses one-side mesh sheet that is compose of mesh conductive layer, dielectric layer and solid conductive layer. Using one-side mesh sheet, an electromagnetic wave is transmitted into the sheet medium by clip type electrode that is attached at the edge of the sheet medium or coupler that is placed on the surface (mesh side) of the sheet medium. However, power transmission efficiency is down by standing wave. In this paper, we propose a new power transmission system by using two-side mesh sheet. Two-side mesh sheet is compose of upper mesh conductive layer, dielectric layer and bottom mesh conductive layer. By making bottom side into mesh conductive layer, power can be supplied from opposite side of the sheet medium by which the terminal is placed. Simulation results show that power transmission efficiency of proposal system using two-side mesh sheet increase by 38% compared with that of conventional scheme using one-side mesh sheet. Moreover, measurement results denote the same tendency of simulation results.
