Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We report our method that won the IHC Award for images and its evaluation results. The method which has robustness for both JPEG compression and cropping is required in the digital watermarking for images. In this report, we propose the digital watermarking method which has tolerance for these attacks. High-frequency components of images are reduced by JPEG compression. Therefore, it is effective to embed watermarks into low-fre-quency components. In our method, for tolerance for JPEG compression watermarks are embedded into the third LL components of DWT coefficients. Moreover, since it is necessary for the watermarks to be decoded from cropped images, the images are divided into some blocks of a fixed size, and both markers and watermarks are embedded into these blocks. The markers are embedded in order to detect boundary of the blocks. We evaluated our method by using IHC evaluation criteria. As a result, the method can accomplish zero bit error rate at compression ratio 1/60 or larger, and the stego images have tolerance for both JPEG compression and cropping.
