Abstract(in English) | Virtual Auditory Display (VAD) is a system which displays acoustic spatial information toward two ears. The contents to be displayed by VAD system are actual sound recording or acoustic rendering by simulation. There are several variations of construction of VAD system, such as loudspeaker array system and binaural system with headphones. The latter one has several benefits in system costs. However, human listener often moves his/her heads naturally in listening, the rendering acoustic space should be responsive to head movement in the binaural system. VAD system responsive to head movement can improve the accuracy of sound localization and the realism of the rendering acoustic space. In contrast, the binaural VAD system has been investigated as a standalone system. However, it is important to apply VAD system to future communication system via the Internet. In this report, therefore, we developed a binaural VAD system responsive to head movement which rendering was conducted in a remote rendering server. The system latency and sound localization test of the developed system were performed. The validity of the developed system was investigated. |
