Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a practical wavelength converter based on four-wave mixing in optical fiber, and we achieve a polarization-diversity and guard-band-less operation in broadband wavelength region. We demonstrate wavelength conversion operation for 86-Gbit/s DP-QPSK signals with arbitrary input and output wavelengths in 1535-1565nm region, and we evaluate the quality of the output signals. We also find an increased phase noise of the signal after a conversion process especially when the received OSNR is relatively large, and we investigate the origin of the phase noise quantitatively.
