Abstract(in English) Variable delay elements are often used in various types of high-speed integrated circuits, mainly intended for delay compensation, skew equalization, etc. In this paper, we propose a delay-locked loop (DLL)with multi-level programmable delay element (PDE),which is realized by a mechanism with channel length decomposed (L-decomposed) transistors. A combination of decomposed sub-transistors along channel leng this controlled by the digital input code so that the delay varies. Besides, the proposed DLL is synthesizable that can be migrated to different processes. The multi-level L-decomposed PDE shows a good linearity and a wide locked range.
