Abstract(in English) For the next generation mobile communication, heterogeneous wireless system has been discussed to attain high throughput and wide coverage. Since multiple network cells overlap in the heterogeneous wireless system, the number of networks which users must discover increases compared to homogeneous wireless system. In the future, a large number of small cells will be deployed for traffic offload. Because users must discover a lot of networks increasingly, radio resources are more used for network discovery and frequent selection error of networks occurs. In this paper, network selection scheme using signal quality maps is proposed for data traffic optimization. In the proposed scheme, the signal quality maps are made by gathering signal qualities information with position from each terminals in advance. Users can select network which has a better channel quality fast and easily by using signal quality maps. We show that the proposed scheme can reduce the selection error of networks compared with the scheme which uses measured instantaneous values within the feasible positional accuracy by computer simulation.
