Abstract(in English) | The unrelenting user traffic demand triggered by data-centric standards place a premium on area spectral and energy efficiency over already crowded wireless spectrum. A promising approach to solving this problem, which is being considered in 3GPP and Greentouch, is through a novel cellular architecture of cloud cooperated HetNet with heterogeneous deployment of base stations connected to C-RAN for enabling cooperated transmission. Especially, this architecture of low-power (ultra) wideband base stations (small cells) overlaid within the coverage of macro base station allows a C/U splitting mechanism where high-traffic data plane is shifted to the small cells and the whole network can be controlled and optimized by the macro base station in a centralized manner. As a first step to investigate the effectiveness of this novel architecture, this paper constructs an optimization problem on power allocation of base stations to maximize the system's rate-energy efficiency under a presumed user traffic model. Based on the optimization results, a corresponding control procedure at the C-plane is also proposed. |
