Development of the Advanced Radio Propagation Database based on Measurement for Cognitive Radio

Abstract(in English) In order to realize a frequency sharing by cognitive radio, Secondary User (SU) needs to cooperate with the database as an external device. The propagation model based database is defined by FCC. The model based database decides SU's communication opportunity to avoid interference toward Primary User (PU). However, since the propagation model is not perfectly modeled based on the actual wireless environment, considering site specific situation with extra margin for protecting PU is required and SU communication opportunity is reduced. On the other hand, if the measured data can be used for creating the database, more SU communication opportunity can be obtained with keeping PU protection. Therefore, in this research, we develop a measurement based database that stores statistical information of radio environment measured and reported by SUs. We also develop the spectrum analyzing server for calculating the measured data for obtaining their stochastic information. From the experimental results, we can clarify the difference between the current model based database and the measurement based database.
