Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Growing demand on broadband ubiquitous wireless communication services assuring the resilience and robustness against the disasters necessitates the development of a new access network system that combines the advantages of both wireless and optical transmission techniques. In particular, in order to fuse the optical fiber communication with the wireless communication without lowering the throughput of the ultrahigh capacity and ultrahigh-speed, increasing the carrier frequency of the wireless communication to millimeter and submillimeter (terahertz) wave is a simple and straightforward, but challenging method. In this paper, the future outlook and the possibility of an optoelectronic device technology that is key in order to realize future optical-wireless fusion network systems will be discussed.
