Abstract(in English) Optical variable attenuators and optical power monitors are most basic devices in DWDM optical communication, contributing dramatically to the improvement of network speed, and reliability. In particular, monitor feedback electronically controlled variable optical attenuators play an important role. With the increasing networking speed, power balance between DWDM channels is becoming even more critical than ever which requires low wavelength dependence loss (WDL) of power adjustment and high monitoring accuracy. In this paper, we report on the development of a monitor integrated, low WDL MEMS optical variable attenuator, suitable for high accuracy feedback required in optical amplifier.
