Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There are now more than 20 million FTTH subscribers in Japan, and if this number is to increase, it is important that we develop an efficient way of constructing optical access networks in rural areas, where the FTTH service is currently unavailable. In rural areas, the service demand is lower and the cable longer than in urban areas. Therefore, we must realize high-density and lightweight cable and a simple cable connection method to enable us to construct optical networks efficiently. We have developed a new high-density and lightweight aerial optical fiber cable with a joint part at each end.
