Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigated the relationship between splice loss and crosstalk properties in the fusion spliced multicore fibers. We observed the amount of crosstalk degradation under the different condition of splice loss and confirmed that the crosstalk degradation was related to the increase of the splice loss. We made the 43-km 7-core fiber transmission line with multiple fusion splice points considering the applicability for the real terrestrial transmission line. The relationship between fusion splice losses and crosstalk properties were measured by means of mode coupling measurement method utilizing an OTDR technique. As a result, the correlation between splice losses and crosstalk properties were clearly observed.
