Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The access log of the Open University of Japan's OCW was analyzed in order to investigate the trend of utilization of online video and audio lectures. The results showed that: (1) Videos are more likely to be replayed than audios. (2) The majority of viewers and listeners replay videos and audios quite short or long. (3) Audios are more likely to be replayed longer than videos. (4) The first part of a series of lecture is replayed most often. (5) The number of seeks per unit of time are larger as playback time is shorter. (6) The number of seeks of audios are quite small. Next, the cross-institutional metadata search system used in the Open University of Japan's OCW and Japan Opencourseware Consortium is introduced, and a search system specialized for lecture videos and audios is discussed.
