Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) NEXCO Engineering Niigata Company Limited has developed the emergency phone that has the bidirectional character communication function with touch panel (hereinafter called "development device") for hearing-impaired people. One of the important points required for this development device is that there is no different usability between the existing and the development device. Thus, to evaluate quantitatively the usability, we measured EEG (electroencephalogram) signals and attempted to quantify the usability by means of EFAM (Emotion Fractal-dimension Analysis Method). The result showed that although there was no different usability in the overall subjects, the hearing-impaired subjects felt stress about using the development device due to its confusing operability. It suggests that specific improvements of products become easier to find by the evaluation using EFAM.
