Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Cascading failures are wide-area damages of telecommunications networks, caused by successive failures of elements, where the start trigger is an only small failure of an element. This is a hot topic especially in reliability engineering for telecommunications networks. A recent existing research proposed an evaluating method for impacts of cascading failures to determine the best mix of countermeasures for cascading failures. However, it has a problem because it evaluated the impact only from the viewpoint of topology. It never considers the traffic volume while user's dissatisfaction deeply depends on the mitigation of traffic volume on telecommunications network. Now, this paper proposes a new approach to evaluate the impacts of cascading failures considering traffic volume. This measure expresses the traffic volume after experiencing successive failures. We also have implemented a software to evaluate this new measure, and show some simple numerical evaluation experiments, where we focus on countermeasure that we give surpluses of capacities of elements before experiencing cascading failures.
