Abstract(in English) Recently, mode-division multiplexing (MDM) transmission has been intensively investigated because the transmission capacity can be increased greatly by using this technology. Thus, the system also requires an amplifier. In particular, a multi-mode amplifier is essential if we are to realize a long-haul MDM transmission system. We therefore proposed an all-fiber type MM-EDFA with modal gain control using an LPG. The modal gain of LP_<11> mode is up to 5 dB larger than LP_<01> mode.
