Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A tunable passive repeater comprising multiple patch antennas is placed on the wall of the shielded room to enable wireless terminals inside and outside of the shielded room, to communicate through the MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) channel. This paper presents a method that uses a tunable passive repeater to improve indoor propagation environment. Varactor diodes are used as load impedances and attached to all patch antennas of passive repeater. By this configuration, the passive repeater can control the phase in the channel. The MIMO channel capacity is maximized by controlling all elements individually in the passive repeater. The effectiveness of the transmit array in enhancing the MIMO channel capacity is experimentally verified. The results show that the 10 % value of MIMO channel capacity can be improved by 2.92 bits/s/Hz in indoor propagation environment, and this well supports the effectiveness of the proposed method.
