Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The parser in L1 Japanese utilized a semantic mismatch between a classifier and its adjacent noun as an effective predictor for the upcoming the relative clause construction (RC, henceforth) whereas the same information was not an effective cue in L1 Chinese processing. A self-pace reading time experiment was conducted to see if Korean native speakers are sensitive to an indirect semantic cue and predict the RC based on an indirect cue in on-line processing, which will complete the crosslinguistic picture.
