Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is a known fact that animacy affects the sentence structure on sentence production of L1 speakers. We examined if animacy affects L2 speakers as it does L1 speakers with an experiment between Japanese native speakers and Chinese Japanese-learners on the production of relative clause. The result suggested that Chinese Japanese-learners also prefer passive relative clause to active relative clause when the patients are inanimate. Therefore, it has been made clear that they, as well as Japanese native speakers, are far more likely to choose passive structure for animate headed relative clauses.
