Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To enable visually impaired people to efficiently comprehend graphical information, such as GUI menu layout and figures, we have already reported on a presentation method that can present vibrations for each randomly located content object using different frequencies. In this report we have solved the problems of this method and developed a presentation method for tactile displays that can vibrate at any local areas in various vibration modes. A presentation method that detects the hue of images such as PNG and BMP images, and converts these images into various vibrations was described. Also, 凸 or vibration presentation method for the non-image part in the displayed object and the overlapping objects was described. By using this method, the user can determine by touch alone the categories of items in a menu or understand information such as important positions on a map or graph. This enables the rapid transmission and understanding of information similar to that normally obtained visually.
