Abstract(in English) We are developing a compact and lightweight power assist supporter called Smart Suit Lite that utilizes elastic force of elastic belts. It has not only effect of supporting muscles but also effect of stabilizing torso in the similar way as a corset. It is said that the corset increases stiffness of trunk and decrease intradiscal pressure by applying pressure around the pelvis. However this effect is difficult to measure directly and has not utilized actively for power-assist devices. Therefore, this study aims to construct a mechanical model of the trunk stabilizing effect. In this paper, we describe basic experiments evaluating improvement of postural stability by lumbar tightening force.
