Abstract(in English) The purpose of this study is to develop a plantar cutaneous stimulator and to evaluate the stretch sense threshold of plantar cutaneous. This stimulator is composed of a plantar stimulation platform with a moving contactor to stretch the skin tangentially, a response switch for each stimulus, a motor control box, and a PC for psychophysical data processing. Ten healthy subjects are instructed to stand on the platform and are asked for the recall of the plantar stimuli by using the response switch. From the experimental results, it is shown that the plantar cutaneous sensation demonstrates the dependency of velocity and region for the skin stretch stimuli and may be used for an alternative index of a diabetic foot screening.
