Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Physical strain of care person such as transfer to a wheel chair from a bed become a major problem in nursing-care environment. We therefore have developed nursing-care robot RIBA that can perform transfer task using its double arms. RIBA has to lift the appropriate part of the care receiver's body to transfer the care receiver between bed and wheelchair without pain and discomfort feeling. To detect the contact portion between care receiver and robot arms, the position of the care receiver on the arms has been estimated by use of tactile sensors mounted on the robotic arms.
