Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Geometrical non-photorealistic rendering (NPR) such as stippling and Voronoi tessellation depends on the measure of distance between pixels. Popularly used is the simplest Euclidean distance which induces spatially isotropic NPR. We examine, in this paper, the bilateral distance and its approximate tangent distance for spatially anisotropic NPR. We show by experiments that the bilateral distance leads to NPR preserving input images better than the tangent distance.
