Abstract(in English) We have studied a heterogeneous cognitive radio system which combines digital public private mobile radio systems (DPPMRS) and commercial mobile wireless communication systems (CMWCS). The cognitive radio systems can improve bit error rate (BER) performance of the DPPMRS by receiving subsidiary information transmitted from the CMWCS when DPPMRS's communication quality has got worse. The subsidiary information is a part of information of CMWCS. However, the problem with the cognitive radio systems is that the subsidiary information cannot be utilized when the communication quality of the DPPMRS becomes extremely poor and synchronization between DPPMRS and CMWCS is lost. For this reason, we propose an efficient method for both of assistance of timing synchronous acquisitions and BER improvements using the subsidiary information for differentially-encoded π/4 shift QPSK DPPMRS. Moreover, to evaluate the proposed method, we performed computer simulation and showed probability of obtaining the timing synchronization, jitter characteristics when the timing synchronization has been obtained and BER improvement performances.
