Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Nineteen male participants were instructed to drink one can (350m1) of beer in 10 minutes. A short term memory test was done before, immediately after, 15 minutes after and 45 minutes after drinking. Tokyo University's ALDH2 phenotype screening test was applied to separate participants into two groups, i.e., ALDH2 positive group and ALDH2 negative group (participants who experience the alcohol flush reaction). The results suggested that cognitive function was temporary improved immediately after drinking in ALDH2 positive group although no significant difference was found. Significant correlation between change scores (immediately after-before) in ALDH2 and some physiological parameters were found.
