Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Limb paralysis is caused by cerebrovascular disease and/or spinal cord injury. It becomes an impediment in daily life and leads to a decrease in QOL. Grasping is one of the important activities. In order to rebuild this lost motor function the authors were carried out a functional electrical stimulation (FES.) To this end, the authors constructed an electrical stimulation system with pressure sensors attached to each fingertip, surface electrodes to upper limb, an electrical stimulator and a controller, and also identified the stimulus points. PD control and disturbance observer were employed as the controller and it decides a suitable stimulation voltage. In this study, the authors performed experiments for healthy subjects and verified the effectiveness of the proposed system.
