Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the effectiveness of a spoken term detection (STD) technique on an electric note-taking support system. Most STD studies targeted to improve term detection performance, and there are few STD researches focus on its effectiveness on real environments. Therefore, we test the effectiveness of the STD technique in a browsing work using the electric note-taking support system we have already developed. This is performed by a subjective experiment. In the subjective experiment, subjects made an electronic notes by using the system with listening to a lecture, and they answered questions related to the lecture with browsing the notes. A response time that a subject correctly answered the all questions was measured. When the subjects browsed theier notes, half of the subjects used the STD technique and the others did not use it. The experimental result showed that the subjects who used the STD technique answered the all questions faster than the other subjects. This claimed that the STD technique worked well on the browsing work on the electric note-taking system.
