Cyber Attack Against Optical Communication System and Its Defense Technology : Towards Development of Quantum Enigma Cipher

Abstract(in English) Recently, the cyber security and reliability in a digital cloud system are regarded as the most important task force to develop the next generation network. Although the security issue in general belongs to higher layer, the security for each layer has to be considered for higher security. We are concerned with the security technology for physical layer. In this paper, we propose a new cipher so called Quantum Enigma Cipher as a promising candidate for the physical cipher. Especially, we explain the basic concept and its importance based on the historical development. In addition, we introduce the recent R and D status of Y-00 quantum stream cipher which is the first generation of quantum Enigma cipher.
