Abstract(in English) Standardization of multi-Gbit/s class WLAN using 60GHz band has been completed and its product development is underway. Millimeter wave WLAN has drawbacks, i.e. service area coverage is small due to large free space loss and LOS (Line-of-Sight) is indispensable. In order to overcome these drawbacks, frequency cooperative wireless systems using both millimeter wave band and microwave band is proposed. Practical frequency cooperative wireless systems need green operation where the circuits of the operating frequency are activated and the other circuits of the non-operating frequency are in sleep. This report proposes a millimeter wave WLAN service area estimation technique using microwave WLAN signals for frequency cooperative wireless systems for green operation and describes the preliminary results of the feasibility study by computer simulation using ray-tracing.
