Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the "great east Japan earthquake" of March 11th, 2011, a lot of information and communications technology (ICT) resources were completely or partially damaged due to the tremor and the resultant tsunami. As a consequence, the demand for ICT services explosively increased, mainly because the people of the affected areas were trying desperately to communicate with the outside world that led to a phenomenal rise in the network traffic. The realization of resilient ICT network and services is placed as a critical issue, which needs urgent resolution. In this paper, we propose a disaster resilient image and video transmission scheme based on especially designed MDRUs (Movable and Deployable Resource Units). The proposed resilient transmission system offers the appropriate image and video application data to people of the affected areas based on the MDRUs power supply and network bandwidth.
