Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have developed a real-time system for the purpose of speech training by hearing impaired children, which visualizes the state of articulation and the vowel color image simultaneously. At the same time of converting the auditory images of vowel into visual one, these systems using the formant ratios have functions to generate the articulatory positios or the vocal tract shapes. Using these tools, it is expected that users learn how to articulate vowel sounds correctly. In this paper, we describe the formant conversions for visualization and normalization, and introduce the realizations of such functions. Furthermore, some preliminary evaluations are reported for vowel sounds before and after the training by hearing impaired children.
