Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, we propose a new electro-optic (EO) modulator utilizing double-antenna-coupled resonant electrodes and thin EO substrate stacked structure on a low-k substrate for wireless millimeter-wave - lightwave signal conversion. By using a thin (~50μm) LiNbO_3 substrate for optical modulation and a low-k substrate for patch antennas, high-efficiency signal conversion is obtainable. The proposed modulators were designed in a 60GHz band and their basic operations were demonstrated successfully with an improvement of ~5dB compared to the double-antenna-coupled electrode device on LiNbO_3/SiO_2 substrate.
