Abstract(in English) In this paper, the topology optimization method based on the function expansion method has been applied to the optimal design of three dimensional optical waveguide. In this paper, as optimization examples, we have been designed the basic photonic devices such as bending, three branching and wavelength demultiplexing devices. Two kinds of expansion functions for expressing refractive index distribution are examined and compared aiming to develop more flexible optimization method.
