Preliminary study for highly precise pointing sensor based on optical heterodyne detection

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a highly-precise pointing sensor for multiple beams of an optical phased array using an optical heterodyne detection with a quadrant detector (QD) . In order to discriminate each pointing angle, sub-carrier beat signals between a local beam and each signal beam are extracted by band pass filters while phase modulations of different frequency are applied to each sub array beams. We demonstrate simultaneous detection of pointing angles for two beams using an optical heterodyning of multiple phase modulated beams. The results of this work enable discriminate each pointing angle by using a single QD with accuracy of 0.075urad.
