Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have proposed a direct digital RF modulator which consists of a higher order oversampling current-mode differential DAC and LO switches attached to the output of the current-mode DAC. To reduce the spurious emission and to satisfy the spectrum mask of W-CDMA, the bit number and sampling frequency (number of oversampling orders) were designed. The modulator IC (8 bit, 100 MSample/s (25 times oversampling)) has been fabricated in 90-nm CMOS process and it achieves SNR of 57.3 dB, IM_3 of -39.6 dBc and IM_5 of -52.5 dBc. The spurious free (<-50 dBc/100 kHz) frequency range of 197 MHz is also obtained.
