Design of polarization splitter with elliptical-hole core circular-hole holey fibers

Abstract(in English) We propose a novel polarization splitter based on coupled elliptical-hole core circular-hole holey fiber (EC-CHF). The single-polarization transmission can be easily achieved in a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) by introducing elliptical holes in the core region, which can produce a large birefringence. The EC-CHF can be used to transmit only the x or y polarization by changing the major axis direction of the ellipse. Utilizing the sin-gle-polarization nature of the EC-CHF, x, y polarizations can be separated without cross-talk, and coupled only to the xEC-CHF and yEC-CHF, respectively. In this research, we have designed the polarization splitter based on EC-CHFs which satisfied the phase matching condition.
