Abstract(in English) | We are living in interactions with many people and there is also much collaboration in our social environment. Although it may sometimes be forced collaboration work with a selfish partner, we can act stably reluctantly. We think that our brain had been adapted for the dynamic cooperativeness change. We used a centipede game as an experimental task in the functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). We investigated task-related regions by using a General Linear Model analysis (GLM analysis). Results of GLM analysis showed that the caudate as the reward value and that the middle cingulate cortex (MCC) and putamen activated in the case of a selfish partner. To investigate the network of these regions, we estimated effective connectivity by Dynamic Causal Modeling (DCM). Results of DCM analysis showed that there is an effective connectivity from the caudate to the putamen and that this connectivity in reward system was modulated by the effect of the MCC activity so that the putamen activity was enhanced in the case of selfish partner. These results suggest that caudate-putamen connectivity as the reward system can be modulated by selfishness-related activity. Our view would be also that the network modulation system could achieve stable decision-making and action, even if the partner is selfish. |
