Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The Izhikevich neuron model is a mathematical model that can reproduce various neural firing patterns, such as regular spiking, intrinsically bursting, fast spiking, chattering, and chaos. In this report, we analyze the chaotic behavior of the neuron model. First, we evaluated the maximal Lyapunov exponent. Second, we observed the inter spike intervals from the membrane potential of the model, and estimated its frequency histogram. The results show that the maximal Lyapunov exponent becomes a positive value and that the frequency histogram of inter spike intervals in case of chaotic response exhibits a wide distribution. Finally, we proposed a measure for evaluating a variety of the inter spike intervals with investigating the bifurcation structure of the neuron model. As a result, we can identify the region of chaotic responses of the Izhikevich neuron model.
