Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Several low attenuation and low nonlinearity fibers have been proposed so far in order to support large capacity transmissions using digital coherent technologies. In this paper, we develop an analytical OSNR formulation as a function of fiber characteristics to quantitatively predict system Q-factors and optimum signal powers. The formulas are well validated with 100-Gb/s DP-QPSK WDM transmission experiments. In addition, considering EDFA-output limitation, span length is optimized for submarine ultra-long haul systems, and fibers with possible low attenuation (~0.154 dB/km) and effective area of 110 to 140 μm^2 are found to be optimal.
