A Fast Calculation Method of 2-Dimensional MUSIC for DOA and Frequency Simultaneous Estimation

Abstract(in English) MUSIC is an useful method to enhance resolution in DOA and frequency estimation, although, its computational load is slightly large. However, this weak point becomes a quite serious problem when MUSIC method is expanded to 2-dimensional processing to apply such as simultaneous estimation of DOA and frequency. In this report, we propose a fast calculation method of 2-dimensional MUSIC in which search calculation of estimation function is substituted with rough search calculation using FFT and precise calculation using Newton's iterative method, which is enabled by expanding mode vectors into Fourier series. The proposed method was verified by computer simulations, which showed that calculation time was reduced to one twentieth approximately and estimation accuracy was the same or better than conventional method.
