On capacity evaluation of satellite/terrestrial integrated mobile communication system

Abstract(in English) R&D on satellite/terrestrial integrated mobile communication system (STICS) has been carried out. In STICS, mobile terminal has seamless connection to terrestrial and satellite links. These terrestrial and satellite links shares same frequency band. In this study, capacity of terrestrial and satellite links under co-channel interference is evaluated to verify frequency sharing between terrestrial and satellite system. In STICS, terrestrial and satellite link is interfering to desired links (satellite uplink/downlink, terrestrial uplink/downlink). Capacity is evaluated when interference path between satellite and terrestrial system is between satellite and terrestrial terminal. Two evaluation scenario is prepared; normal period and disaster period. Considering different interference mechanism, minimum separation distance between satellite terminal and base station existing near satellite cell edge is evaluated as a worst-case evaluation to evaluate interference path between satellite terminal and base station.
