Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have recently proposed the spectrally-efficient poly-polarization multiplexing (PPM) and polarization domain modulation (PDM) techniques. In order to validate the simulated results and also understand the effects of practical constraints on such modulation techniques it is necessary to build a hardware demonstrator. This paper describes the architecture and implementation of the real-time system. The paper shows that the hardware performances closely match the software simulations with a BER of 1e-6 obtained at 4.8 dB E_b/N_0 for PPM. This shows that the practical impairments such as frequency and timing offsets could be properly compensated and do not adversely affect the proposed PPM/PDM systems.
